The Story : Stardate: 47215.5. Geordi defies direct orders from Captain Picard in an attempt to rescue his mother who had recently been reported as missing.
Note : Levar Burton requested that Madge Sinclair and Ben Vereen play La Forge's parents. They also played Levar's parents in the mini series Roots. Madge Sinclair played the first female captain in Star Trek 4. This is hte only episode to detail La Forge's family. This was meant to be a Riker story and a sequel to "Frame of Mind".

Note : A fourth timeline with the Borg attack from The Best of Both Worlds was considered for the story. Picard keeps calling O'Brien "Chief", a title that he wouldn't hold unitl much later in the series and Deep Space Nine.
