The Story : Stardate 48212.4. Hoping to avert an invasion, Sisko takes his officers into the Gamma Quadrant to find the leaders of the Dominion, the Founders. After meeting with the Karemma, a member of the Dominion, they reach a communications relay station. But when Jem'Hadar ships arrive, Sisko is forced to abandon O'Brien and Dax. A surprise attack by the Jem'Hadar also forces Sisko and his crew to evacuate the Defiant. Odo rescues Kira and together they flee to the mysterious Omarion Nebula where Odo finds his people...

The Story : As Kira and Odo learn more about his home world and his fellow shapeshifters, the rest of the crew are rescued and returned to the station. There, they find negotiations are underway between the Vorta Borath and Admiral Necheyev. When Sisko finds out that the negotiations are not in the best interests of the Federation - the Dominion is given complete control of the Bajoran sector, including the station and the wormhole - he and his crew take a runabout and collapse the wormhole. Meanwhile, on Odo's homeworld, Kira has discovered a mysterious sealed door. Odo manages to open it and there they find the rest of the Defiant crew unconscious. The negotiations were staged in order to find out how much the Federation would be willing to sacrifice for peace with the Dominion. Furthermore, Odo's people turn out to be the leaders of the Dominion, the Founders...

His plan seems to be working, until he's confronted by the dead Klingon's brother, D'Ghor, and later by his widow, Grilka. Eventually, Quark winds up being forced to marry Grilka and defend the family honor against the scheming brother. Meanwile, Chief O'Brien tries to cheer up his wife Keiko who is discouraged at the closing of the school on DS9. Reluctantly, O'Brien determines the only thing to satisfy her, is to use her skills as a botanist on Bajor, which will require a separation of several months.

Bashir suspects she may be rejecting her symbiont and a trip to the Trill home world reveals that Dax had a host she never knew about and that the Symbiosis Commission has been covering things up.

The Story : Kira is kidnapped by the Cardassians, who try to prove to her that she is really Cardassian. As explained by Entek, an operative of the Obisidian Order, her real name is Iliana Ghemor and she's an operative of the Order who was surgically altered and equipped with the memories of Kira Nerys. Kira of course doesn't believe the improbable story, but she is presented with a convincing body of evidence. While the rest of the crew attempts to rescue her, it becomes clear that the entire situation was a plot by the Order to expose Tekeny Ghemor - Kira's so-called father - as a dissident.

The Story : Quark purchases some wreckage, which also includes an alien baby. The infant matures at an accelerated rate and it soon becomes clear that the child is a Jem'Hadar. Odo, who feels guilty because his race created the Jem'Hadar, tries to convince the violent Jem'Hadar that there is more to life than fighting and killing. Meanwhile Sisko is rather sceptic of Jake's relationship with an older Dabo girl.

The Story : While working in the station's ore processing unit, Sisko, Jake and O'Brien accidentally trigger an automated Cardassian security program, designed to quell a worker revolt. Dax and Kira work to shut down the computer program, but only succeed in activating more automated security messages and eventually trigger the self-destruct program. When Dukat - the station's former commander - arrives, he doesn't feel like shutting down the program. He soon comes to regret this as he becomes trapped himself when he attempts to beam out - something the automated program sees as betrayal.

The Story : Stardate 48423.2. Sisko, Dax, Bashir and O'Brien are exploring the Gamma Quadrant when suddenly a planet appears where none had existed before. The planet - Meridian - shifts into another dimension and only emerges for short while every sixty years. While attempting to find a way of stabilizing the planet's transitions, Dax falls in love with one of the inhabitants, Deral. Unable to stop the planet returning to the other dimension, Dax decides to remain with Deral. Back on DS9, Quark tries to take a holographic photo of Kira in order to program her likeness into an erotic holosuite program for a love-struck customer.

The Story : Stardate 48467.3. Will Riker's Renégade duplicate, Tom, visits the station posing as the Enterprise's first officer. He turns out to be working for the Maquis and while Kira gives him a tour of the station, he steals the Defiant and sets out to attack a hidden armada of Cardassian ships located in the Orias system which is controlled by the Obisidian Order. This leaves Sisko with no choise, but to travel to Cardassia and join forces with Gul Dukat - who was unaware of the Order's activities in the Orias system - to stop Riker from causing an all out war.

Unable to identify themselves, they are taken to a sanctuary district - a walled-off camp where the homeless and jobless are sealed from the rest of society. Sisko learns they have arrived at a critical point in earth history : the Bell Riots. However, they change history when they cause the death of Gabriel Bell. Meanwhile, Dax has been rescued by wealthy software executive, Chris Brynner.

Bashir must use extreme and questionable methods to keep him alive so he can assist Kai Winn in negotiating the peace treaty. Both Kai Winn and Kira - but for very different reasons - plead with Bashir to keep Bareil alive, rather than place him in stasis until he can be properly treated. In doing so, however, Bashir is faced with the moral dilemma of extending a life by artificial and ultimately dehumanizing means.

As the odd formation is about to take Kira's life, Odo must face his hidden feelings he has for her. Back on the station, Nog decides he wants to join Starfleet and tries to convince Commander Sisko to help him enter the Academy.

The Story : Stardate 48543.2. When three Cardassians scientists arrive on the station to assist in establishing communications through the wormhole, the fanatical Vedek Yarka warns that this could fulfill a prophecy that predicts the destruction of the wormhole by three 'vipers'. Sisko ignores the ancient Bajoran prophecy but on arrival in the Gamma Quadrant, the first test transmission causes a comet to change course and head straight for the wormhole. If it should strike, the wormhole would be closed forever and the prophecy will have been fulfilled. While one of the Cardassian scientists, Gilora, misinterprets O'Brien's rudeness as affection, Sisko begins to reconsider his role as Emissary.

He and Rom learn that the Nagus' strange behaviour and the newly rewritten Rules of Acquisition are in fact a gift from the wormhole aliens. The only hope for the Ferengi race, Quark reasons, is to take the Nagus back to the wormhole and convince the aliens that this gift is destructive for his race.

After several more time shifts, he also watches the destruction of the station and the collapse of the wormhole and risks his own life in an attempt to avert the disaster.

The Story : After being attacked by the alien Altovar, Bashir lapses into a coma during which his subconscious struggles to live. Trapped in an apparantly empty station, Bashir soon realises that the station represents his mind and that the various crew members represent his personality, which he must access to save his life. The alien however kills them one by one causing Bashir's subconscious self to age to 100 as his life drains away.

The former head of the Obisidian Order plans to come out of retirement and as a start he has formed an alliance with the Romulan Tal Shiar. Together the two forces hope to wipe out the Founders - and in the proces neutralizing the Dominion threat.

The Story : The combined Romulan/Cardassian fleet charges into the Gamma Quadrant. While Sisko ignores Starfleet orders to rescue Odo, Garak has to prove his loyalty to his former mentor by torturing Odo to find out if the Founders have some sort of hidden defenses. By using a device that prevents Odo from returning to his gelatinous state, Garak finds out that Odo still wishes to return to his people. After reaching the Omarion Nebula and attacking the planet they soon realise that the Founders were aware of the operation as the entire fleet is destroyed by Jem'Hadar ships who were hiding in the nebula.

She ends up joining them as a fugitive however, when she comes to the conclusion that Kai Winn is acting irrationally, Kira sides with Shakaar and her friends in refusing to return the equipment. As in the days of the resistance, they take off into the hills and fend off Bajoran cops. They become cult heroes to all of Bajor and when Shakaar decides to run for office, Winn's hopes for total domination are ruined.

The Story : Jadzia Dax must come to terms with her feelings of inferiority when she meets her past hosts in an ancient Trill rite of closure: the zhian'tara. She uses the rest of the senior staff, including Quark and Leeta, as host-bodies to confront and question her past selves. All goes well, until Joran tells her that she doesn't deserve the Dax host. This reminds her off Curzon who had washed her out off the initiate program. It turns out that Curzon did this, not because she wasn't good enough, but because he was in love with her. Meanwhile, Quark sabotages Nog's entrance exam for entry into Starfleet Academy.

The Story : Stardate 48959.1. Sisko, newly promoted to Captain, is sent to the Tzenkethi border by ambassador Krajensky to show the flag. However, when the Defiant is sabotaged, it becomes clear that the ship is being used to start a war between the Federation and the Tzenkethi. The ambassador turns out to be a changeling and the crew has to find him before Sisko destroys the ship with the self-destructsystem.
