Note : This episode featured three generations of Bridges - Lloyd, son Beau, and grandson Dylan who made his professional acting debut. One scene in the episode had over 200 live scorpions. This was the fourth episode filmed. This episode has been released on video in the U.S.

The Story : After a robot kills its creator, do you put it in the scrapheap - or put it on trial? Dr. Charles Link has been murdered, and the prime suspect is a "synthetic human" called Adam. Cutler's strategy hinges on proving Adam's humanity and earning him a trial. During the investigation, evidence comes to light that could ruin Cutler's career - and show Adam's humanity beyond a doubt.
Note : This episode was the first one adapted from the original series. It was directed by Leonard Nimoy's son Adam who has previously directed two "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episodes. Leonard Nimoy was in the original episode but in a different part. Though not listed in the credits, Jake McKinnon played the robot.
