The Story : 1980: After 10 years of setbacks and sabotage. SHADO - Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organisation - is finally ready to defend the Earth from alien invasion. Following a fire at Westbrook Electronics. Colonel Freeman is assigned to safeguard important Ultronic equipment on a flight from Los Angeles. But SID detects an approaching UFO - its target: Freeman's aircraft.

The Story : During a UFO interception by Sky One, an experimental test plane crashes because it was too close to the explosion. The co-pilot is killed, but pilot Paul Foster survives. He tries to convince his boss and an investigator that he saw a UFO, but the evidence doesn't back up his story. He begins to investigate what he believes to be a cover up, aided by the sister of the dead co-pilot. His investigation leads him to Commander Straker, who agrees to meet with him. Will Foster have to be killed for knowing too much?

The Story : Coming home from a party while on leave, interceptor pilot Jim Regan and his wife see a Siamese cat. Returning to their car with the cat, they are captured by Aliens from a UFO hidden in the forest. Regan wakes hours later to see the UFO speed away with his wife inside.

The Story : Straker believes that orbiting space junk is a hazard to SHADO operations, and demands that General Henderson fund a program to eliminate it. A SHADO lunar module is then destroyed during Earth reentry by an Alien device which steepens the module's reentry flightpath angle. However, Henderson is convinced that the accident was pilot error, and puts a ban on all lunar flights. Col. Foster violates the ban to prove that the accident was not pilot error. He survives his encounter with the Alien device by starting at a very shallow reentry angle. Straker then orders all three Interceptors to destroy suspected pieces of space junk which an Alien device may be hiding in. However, while the Earth is left undefended, a UFO is sighted and its target is SHADO headquarters!

The Story : Straker's son Johnny is hit by a car shortly after Straker returns him to his ex-wife Mary. At the hospital it is determined that Johnny requires antibiotics, but cannot take any because he is allergic. Straker orders a SHADO transporter to immediately deliver an experimental new anti-allergenic antibiotic from New York. Meanwhile, a UFO crashes near Ireland, but an Alien survives in an escape pod and sets up a transmitter in the home of an elderly blind woman. SHADO picks up these transmissions, and Freeman diverts the transporter plane carrying the antibiotics to investigate. Straker hides his concern for his son when he discovers this, and his ex-wife is horrified when she hears that something more important has delayed the drugs. Is the Alien trying to co-operate with SHADO, and will Straker's son die because the Alien takes priority?

The Story : A UFO crashes onto a lonely country cottage, killing the woman inside and seriously injuring Paul Foster on his way to intercept it. The woman's distraught husband blames SHADO for her death - and seems to know, before he's spoken, how Straker is going to answer his actions. Then a film script arrives on Straker's desk at Harrington - Straker Studios - a film script about a fictional organisation called SHADO, with a headquarters beneath a film studio, submarines, a base on the moon... Before Straker and Freeman can solve the mystery they must return to the ruined house and face a demented man whose tortured mind can see the future but cannot cope with the present.

The Story : Straker is deeply hurt when Paul Foster takes on a campaign to remove him from the command of SHADO. The campaign begins shortly after Foster and Frank Craig are endangered by an attacking UFO. Straker orders them to fly their Lunar Module in at a dangerous angle to avoid the UFO while they are on re-entry. Craig attempts to murder Straker, but fails in the attack. Straker soon realizes that, somehow, the Aliens have managed to programm Foster and Craig with one task and he must find a way to release his friends without killing them.

The Story : Straker suspects that the Aliens have discovered a way to travel under the sea when a freighter is sunk. He joins the crew of Skydiver 1 as they search the area where the ship went down. Suddenly, they are attacked and the crippled sub sinks to the bottomm. Straker orders Captain Waterman to escape in Sky 1 and bring the SHADO rescue force back. The navigator soon dies from his wounds and Nina Barry is trapped when an emergency escape hatch fails to open. She joins Straker and the two await their rescue ...or death.

The Story : Straker finds that SHADO's security is matched by that of the Navy's when he investigates a report that a Naval ship has shot down a UFO. Foster is given the "unpleasant" task of wining and dining Sarah Bonsanquet, secretary to the officer in charge of the Navy's Top Secret project. While Foster is out with Sarah, Straker and Col. Lake search her flat and find that her telescope has a powerful transmitter built into it. The girl is under control of the Aliens who want to destroy the Navy ship while it is on that secret mission. To his horror, Straker learns that the ship is assigned to dump a powerful nerve gas into the sea, which the Aliens want released into the atmosphere as it is capable of destroying all life on Earth. Straker must break the security and find the ship, which is already under attack.

The Story : Close-up pictures of the alien planet - a promise almost to good to be true? It would certainly be the first step towards taking the fight back to the unkwown marauders attacking the Earth and its inhabitants. A new electron telescope with ultra-high magnification could be put into a space probe to await a visiting UFO and then track it back to its home. Of course, it will take money - so much money thta SHADO scientist Kelly has no choice of receiving an allocation for his own, very different project. But a technical fault changes Kelly's luck. SHADO is no nearer knowing what the aliens'home is like, but Straker sees that there are mysteries to be solved even closer to home.

The Story : A UFO lands on the moon under the cover of a meteor shower. An Alien approaches Moonbase on foot and shoots out a window, causing an explosive decompression which kills a SHADO operative. After a search, the UFO is discovered in a nearby crater, and two teams in moon mobiles go to investigate. When the UFO opens fire, the Interceptors are sent in. While Foster is on his way to get a moon mobile, he is injured and his radio disabled. The Interceptors destroy the UFO and it crashes nearby, destroying a moon mobile. Foster is presumed dead, but he is in fact still alive, as is an Alien. After initial mistrust, the two join together to try and survive the walk back to Moonbase. But will they?

When Straker touches the crystal he finds SHADO is simply a film set and he is the star of the show!

The Story : SHADO member Paul Roper is being blackmailed by a traitorous SHADO medic to provide information to the Aliens. He initially refuses, but when he fears for his wife's safety, he complies. Straker puts him under surveilance after his stress levels are revealed to be alarmingly high during a routine SHADO medical check. Roper is caught giving information out over the phone, which is later discovered to be a flight path which will allow a UFO to approach Moonbase undetected due to interference from the Sun. In order to "even the score", Roper volunteers to defend Moonbase himself. But what are his chances, alone on the lunar surface and armed only with a handheld rocket launcher?

The Story : Straker's old friend, Craig Collins, is presumed killed when he is caught in a UFO attack to disable SID. Months later, Collins is found alive and he is assigned on a mission to repair SID, but all does not go well. Col. Lake, who was close to Collins, finds herself repulsed by him and odd accidents follow in Collins' wake. Straker must join Collins on the mission when Foster is injured during training. Meanwhile, Dr. Jackson tells Col. Grey that parts of Collins brain are burnt out and that he may be under Alien control in a plan to murder Straker. But Collins nearly kills Grey trying to stop him from warning Straker. From his hospital bed, Grey tries to warn Straker who is already aboard SID.

The Story : An Interceptor is destroyed when it collides with a UFO, and Straker orders the responsible personel to SHADO HQ for questioning and psycho-analytic tests. The computerized results of these tests reveal that Lt. Ellis diverted the Interceptors in the incorrect order due to an emotional attachment between herself and Interceptor pilot Mark Bradley. Straker grounds Ellis, despite strong objections from Freeman. The UFO, which is at first lost in a radar blind spot, is later relocated and shot down by Sky One. The UFO crash lands in a Canadian forest, and Freeman is assigned to track it down using the mobiles. Despite the computers findings, Freeman assigns both Ellis and Bradley as part of his team. Will Lt. Ellis' judgment be affected again?

The Story : When one of the operatives at SHADO HQ hands round the cigars following the birth of twins, Straker casts his mind back to his wedding, the formation of SHADO and the birth of his own son. Shortly after the wedding he finds himself charged with selling the concept of SHADO to the UN and does such a good job that he himself is appointed Commander in Chief. The strain of the long hours and secretive meeting necessary to set up SHADO begins to take its roll on the Straker's marriage, then Mary annouces she is pregnant. Can Straker keep both his career and marriage afloat?

The Story : When a freighter is sunk, Straker hears reports of an attack by "flying fish". Skydiver is sent to the area where a huge underwater dome is discovered which Straker believes is connected with the build up of UFOs. Straker and Foster investigate the dome and are shocked to see Lt. Henderson inside it, but even more so when he turns up at SHADO HQ after a 24-hour leave. Henderson is interrogated, but denies he was ever in the dome.
