The Story : Bio-anthropologist Dr Sloan Parker discovers a new species of humans. The drama begins with Sloan working with her mentor Dr Ann Coulter on a case involving serial killer Randall Lynch .... Dr Coulter is later murdered. Sloan continues her research with Dr Ed Tate. She learns the killer's DNA differs from humans and that he is not alone. The new breed intend to become the new dominant species. Tom Daniels appears claiming to be from the FBI but he is really a member of the new species sent to kill Sloan but he doesn't and their relationship begins!

The Story : Lynch continues his killing spree as Sloan and Ray pursue him. Sloan and Ed may have a clue to the geographical origin of the new species. Tom leads Sloan and Ed to a cave and saves two girls from Lynch who then sets himself on fire. Earlier on Tom is shot and goes to Sloan to be bandaged up and ends up giving her a blood sample so she can study the new species more.

The Story : Tom and Sloan and Ed travel to Mexico to search for clues about the origins of the new species. Tom brings back a Mummy from the desert and investigates his own origins by visiting his boyhood home and meeting his mother who holds him and tries to get him to talk. Sloan and Ray rescue Tom in time before his mother and another 1.6 kill him.

The Story : Tom recovers from his beating at Sloan's. Attwood brings the pillar found in the desert back to the city so that Sloan and Ed and Tom can investigate it's meaning. The new species hunt the pillar down in the end and the pillar is destroyed but not until they discover some of it's secrets. We learn that Tom's tattoo has something to do with a comet and some engravings on the pillar.

The Story : As Tom and Sloan are pursued by the police they take refuge in a hotel where they grow closer. Lewis finds a way to summon Tom back to him and reprograms him into a killer .... sending him back to kill Sloan and the others but Sloan manages to bring Tom back to normal. Meanwhile at Kelly's viewing Ed sees movement in the corpse.

The Story : One of the new species ... Mark wants to negotiate peace between the two species but it ends up a mess. Ed perfects a serum that will change the new species DNA to human DNA and tries it on Tom who ends up ill. Tom is changed to human but then starts to revert back (not before a walk in the park when Tom experiences the powerful feelings of being human) .... when Sloan goes to get some more serum Ed and Tom are drugged and Tom is kidnapped.
