Actually, I rather liked it. The actor playing David should deserve an award for his wonderful performance (if you watch closely, you'll notice he never blinks once in the movie). Teddy, Gigolo Joe, and Dr. Know are great. Toward the ending, it shifts from science fiction to fantasy (after all, the whole story is about David's search for the Blue fairy from Pinnochio). Naturally, some scenes don't work well. It would've been far better if Speilberg didn't add all of his own tricks, but it still has great moments.
