Around the Kilimandjaro, peak of the African continent, the "Cradle of Life ", shelters the most mysterious and the scariest bane : Pandora's Box, whose germs could annihilate the humanity in a few hours. Alexander the Great, the first to cease its malevolent power, hide it to the bottom of this cavern, where it bathes in a pool of acid kept by a giant monkey army. During centuries, all those who have attempted to approach it died in atrocious pains.

But the powerful Emperor had preserved inside his temple of the Moon an orb containing coordinates of the Cradle of Life and its fearsome secret. When an earthquake frees the entry of the temple, Lara Croft is the first to fly in the search of Alexandre the Great's fabulous treasures.

When Lara is on the way to take possession of the orb, a Chinese commando makes irruption and seizes it. Saved from death by her faithful assistants Bryce and Hillary, the female adventurer returns to her Mansion, where she soon receives two emissaries of the MI 6. She learns that the Chinese killer partner and their chief Chen Lo is Dr. Jonathan Reiss. This megalomaniac cynic, suspected to provide high-tech biological arms to the most offering, has already united several potential buyers for a "public auction" without precedent, where them will be proposed… the Pandora's Box.

To pull the orb out of Chen Lo hands and prevent Reiss to localize the Box, Lara claims the liberation of her past lover, Terry Sheridan. Secret agent who became a mercenary, Terry is not the most reliable of her companions, but he is the only to be able to lead her to destination in the best delay. An implacable race is engaged between the intrepid adventurer and Dr. Reiss and his men. From Hong Kong and Shanghaï to the heart of Africa, Lara Croft will confront thousand of dangers and will have to deploy valor and ingenuity to save the world…
