Planet of Dinosaurs

(Planet of Dinosaurs)

Synopsis

James K. Shea's Planet of Dinosaurs (1978) represents one of the last "stop-motion animation" films to be produced prior to the advent of the computer-generated affects which dominate today's industry. Handcrafted in the tradition of Willis O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen, the film exhibits a plethora of prehistoric beasties on a far-off planet where space travelers battle for their very existence. Planet of Dinosaurs features James Whitworth (The Hills Have Eyes), but the real stars are the dinosaurs, expertly brought to life by animators Doug Beswick, Steve Czerkas and Jim Aupperle.
