Doctor Xavier discovers a serum that strengthens sight and gives x-ray vision. His colleagues are quite sceptical, but the scientist uses his new invention to get rich. Sunlight becomes more and more insufferable and so, he has to use sunglasses to protect him from unreal distortions of reality. Murderer by mistake, he hides out in a funpark, where he starts working as a clairvoyant. Then he goes looking for luck in a Las Vegas casino. However the owners are suspicious and smash his precious glasses into pieces. He starts suffering from terrifying hallucinations and wanders to a church where he hears a passage from the Bible. It invites him to rip his eye out if the eye is the root of evil, and so he blinds himself.
