Max 404 – android assistant, and his creator, Dr Daniel have been in isolation aboard deep space research station ULC53 for over 5 years... Since the Munich revolt, replicas have been banned from Earth. However, Dr Daniel continues his experimental project to create the perfect female replica, Cassandra One, in the furthest corners of space. During his duties Max enjoys playing old 20th century rock tapes and movie classics such as “It's a Wonderful Life” and dreams of life on earth. Max is, however, certain that his days are numbered and that he faces imminent shut down as soon as the Doctor's project is completed.

Whilst logging-off the communications deck one day Max intercepts a distress signal from a Police transport ship. Unwittingly he welcomes on board three intergalactic fugitives – one of them a female. For both the Doctor and Max, their timely appearance brings a dramatic conclusion, as both react in unexpected ways...
