Synopsis
Winston Smith is one of the unfortunate souls of Oceania's middle class, or Outer party. The character lives in a world of totalitarianism, in which it is forbidden to exercise freedom of thought. Winston secretly attempts to record his opinions in a diary that he hopes a future generation will read. Since Winston is constantly monitored, at home and at work, and lives in a perpetual state of anxiety and paranoia in which he fears his heresy will be discovered. Eventually, Winston has a lustrous affair with Julia, a member of the Inner Party or ruling class, who shares his hateful feelings toward the government...
