The Time Machine

Really, pretty decent film version of Wells' story. Best part for me is the sense of sadness of the main character, as he travels to the future and meets the son of his best friend, and then much further ahead, enters the world of the Eloi and Morlocks, and sees how human civilization has degenerated. Yet ever practical, he does not give way to despair but takes a logical course of action after he returns to his own time to tell his story. Genuinely exciting sequence about how he must get back to his machine to return to his own time. Special effects pretty good, combining some quaint Victorian trappings with more hi-tech elements. Altogether very entertaining and reasonable faithful to the gist of Wells' story.
